Dino Storm and the Splitscreen

Dino Storm, an MMORPG game featuring dinosaurs and laser weapons. A great proposal for children, officially launched in 2013 and even winning an award for best browser MMORPG of its year. A game that holds wonderful memories for me with much affection. But we all know the sad reality: "either you die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain." And that is exactly what happened to our beloved Dino Storm. Currently, the game is abandoned by the administration and only has unemployed bearded players left. If you think that's bad, tell me when was the last time you saw a Game Master online managing our beloved game. Our dear Splitscreen keeps the servers running out of pure greed. Like it or not, players still spend a lot of money on the game, spending more and more gold. I remember when I played, 3k gold was a lot, it was considered flaunting. Nowadays, 22k goes unnoticed; it’s practically the minimum for you to be something in the game. Splitscreen has so much greed that even their updates are LAZY, all bringing only new options for you to spend your money. The company pretends to listen to its players, but if we take a quick look at the forum, we will see that they really don't care. There are several great ideas to improve the game, revolutionary ideas, from players begging the company for a worthy investment that would bring the game back to life. A great example of this is when players asked for a new game trailer, showing the news of their updates and proposals. They actually delivered a new trailer, but it wasn't like the first one that hyped the game so much back then. For me, if you put this trailer next to the old ones, I wouldn't be able to say which is more recent. They simply used a tool from the game itself to make their OFFICIAL trailer, man, do you understand the LEVEL?

Community

Here we enter our next chapter, where we will talk a little about the Dino Storm community. Here we have the following example of "the country deserves its ruler"; the company, Splitscreen, is a terrible company, however, the community does not disappoint. A completely toxic community that severely abuses loopholes in the game, not like a hack to have infinite dd (Dino Dollars) or to get everything for free in the game, but rather to ruin the accounts of those who do not agree with their opinions. Players discovered loopholes in Splitscreen's support, where with a silly little text, a screenshot of the person saying anything that, when somewhat out of context, seemed offensive, they would get a permanent ban on their account. It reached such a high level that certain players became feared by others. Nowadays, no one uses the in-game chat anymore because they know that any mistake on their part could lead to a ban on their account, and there is no way to ARGUE against that ban. Splitscreen does not explain nothing, it doesn’t give you a warning in advance, depending on the argument or something like that. At most, you receive some MUTES as a prior warning, which simply means you can’t use the chat. This same community has literally started a Parallel Market for Dino Storm accounts. Dude, they are trafficking accounts of a dinosaur game! But this is something normal in many games, right? Right! But all games strongly repudiate this behavior and make it clear that it is not allowed and is subject to banning. But my dear, we are talking about Splitscreen. It pretends to care about this and denounce the behavior, but the truth is that it simply doesn’t care because, like it or not, this brings them a lot of profit. Whenever someone buys a new account, they often spend a lot of money not just buying the account, where I’ve seen a single account cost over R$3000.00, but also spending a lot on buying gold to buff their new account. This has simply ruined the game; you rarely see any new players or an old player leveling up an account from scratch, going through the struggles and difficulties of becoming lvl MAX in the game. It's so serious that the game magnates have bad accounts that they set aside and distribute to new and old players who don't have accounts, calling them 'war accounts.' So, right from the start, the new player quickly loses interest and the desire to have their own account and level up and feel the essence of the game. It's even funny to talk about it, and because of this, people started emerging who do a sort of freelance work, farming to put some money on the account and get them ready for wars. The game is literally full pay to win. And since the game's administration is simply terrible, with some Game Masters, known GM's, who only come once in a lifetime to say you can't talk nonsense in the chat and hang around somewhere on the map vegetating, the ds community ended up becoming its own administrators. The players with more influence in the community, like leaders of clans and alliances of clans began to come together and formed a global Dino Storm community, in WhatsApp the community is called Splitscreen. Dude, I don't even doubt that the GMs themselves or other members of Splitscreen are in this group as admins, because it makes no sense for them not to take down something like this. But I don't doubt Splitscreen, those guys are horrible. And in this community, we have two main groups, one for you to chat normally and another for you to buy or sell your Dino Storm account. It's actually quite well managed, they hold events and have more influence in the game than Splitscreen itself. And this is just a part of how rotten this game, its company, and its community are, which leak intimate photos of teenagers.

Thanks.

Hello,

I really appreciate your view and concerns for the game. If you are an old player, you must have witnessed a lot of evolution in the game since the release of its beta version. Your statement that we pretend to listen to what the players are saying is a bit unjustified. We always review and value the feedback of the players. They come up with great ideas; some can fit into the current framework, while others cannot. Several changes have been made to the game based on the feedback of our players.

About the unjustified penalties statement, I have not seen any such case where an unjustified penalty has been awarded to the player. The team processes all the reported violations as per policy and without any discrimination. If there is valid proof, the team will process the reported violation on merit and as per the policy of the game. There is no deviation in it.

Further account sharing/ trading is a serious violation of the game rules, and we have zero tolerance for it. I agreed that further action should also be taken to stop this. The team is also committed to putting strict control so that game rules should be followed in true letter and spirit.

Thank you.

No you do not listen to the actual players, I'm one of the people that play for over a decade and I have personally provided tons of ideas and solutions to many problems this game has. The team's focus is shifted somewhere completely random instead of where you have to. If you did such a great job why is every singular post about people's complaints? It doesn't mean that you should always listen to the players but there has to be a crystal clear reason as to why the community is so distressed? Speaking to a wall will provide a better outcome at this point hence the reason I personally stopped interacting, I'm just replying to the hypocrisy and the shame this neglect brings letting this game rot away.

Better to say nothing than lie to people's faces.

regarding punishments - more transparency is required. also non biased punishments without discrimination? i've been told (with solid proof) about some punishments received and the reason for those punishments. i cannot breach the GDPR without of both parties consent but some of the reasons were beyond hilarious.

as a player who has never spent a single cent on the game, appeared once every few years and still had a maximum of level fourteen with a hundred gold, i can say that what was said was absolutely true at five or six years ago;
i had a complete feeling that i was nobody in this game, among the company of donaters who had leveluped to the edge;
but now, five or six years later, i feel like i can level up in a matter of days, i can earn gold by playing the game, i don't even need it too much (unless i want to change my stupid name) to continue, the balance has obviously become much more tolerable, and the gold-paying achievements (which were not there before) have become so much that they are many times more than the income from quests (it's not good, but won't complain);
i can't say anything about the community (for some reason, toxic players did not come across to me anymore (didn’t come across players at all for some reason));
i see a lot of great suggestions on the forum to improve the game, but even more i see... 'make more dinosaurs', 'make more guns', 'make more smooth phases of the dinosaurs appearance'... i think the remaining people remain a miracle, and the developers are miraculously developing at least something;
nevertheless, five to six years, this is such a period for which new games come out of scratch, and sometimes their sequels also come out;
Let's not talk about other dinosaur games that were recently released and for some reason have already earned the developers millions. Let's talk about the fact that Dino Storm has only one main gameplay type — you shoot at npc, bite him, npc flattens and vomits some kind of three-phase macguffinite stabilizer or blueberry. Sometimes you do it for a quest that comes up with ten or a hundred contexts for the same process. Sometimes you shoot and bite the player's character so that player loses dinodollars and so that you achieve something in your life. And that's all. That's all why we gathered here.
For a game to come to life, you need a new game, with a more diverse gameplay, or, more likely, a parallel universe.
And i will still pent a couple of days and disappear for a couple of years.

This game needs a complete rework of absolutely everything if it wants to shine again, but it’s more likely for a meteor to hit than for that to happen. Either way, I’m grateful for the creation of this amazing game

Agreed. I still play the game for ''fun''. But one thing that always bugged me is that the whole gate and candidating thing isn't used like it's supposed to. From what I understand you were supposed to have clans competing for gates, for fame to help members/friends get to the main goal of the game, earning rex. However because most clans are now bonded by ''alliance'' which the clans don't even really trust each other and backstab each other couple of times, it kinda shifted the game. I'm not saying it's bad but from an experience where I did have to wait years to get a dumb pixel dino... it is little frustrating. However I also can't really think of a way to let so many players achieve the goal either. It would need like 20 seperate clans of 5 people each or something to attack for fame and then fight for the positions in the Town Hall
