I think I remember playing this game close to after it came out because the game was advertised on german tv (crazy to think they had the money for that back then). my parents were reluctant at first because of guns and dinos rawr so dangerous. since then made like 4 attempts over the years on different accounts because I wanted to start fresh each time. I remember there being a new player almost around every corner no matter where I went. Had like 30 friends within a few weeks of playing and even made an own clan that got like 15 people. I also had another account on eu-4(or eu-3 idk what the current lowest one is) but i wanted to do that because i wanted to solo grind. Within one hour of playing i wouldve probably seen more players than i would see now within a month of playing. i dont even know how much more dead this game can get than it already is before it just gets shut down.

Even more insane is this fact: dino storm was greenlit on steam as one of the very first games to get onto steam through the steam greenlight function. This was MASSIVE. that was over a decade ago. Why did it never get on steam? why is it still not on steam? why are there still players against putting it on steam?

It would be so easy for them to simply put this thing on steam and get all their severs destroyed due to the influx of new players. do they not want to grow? do they not want to make this game bigger? I seriously dont understand. The amount of profit they could make would be so, so much bigger than the effort to get their servers up to standards. its mind-breaking to me.
I dont think ill ever get an explanation anyway.

If the devs ever have any interest in growing this game and put it on steam, wake me up. Until then, I might touch this game every three years or so until it gets deleted from the internet.

Well… I’d recommend not quitting the game, nor doing that thing of logging in every three years until the game shuts down, because that’s not a way to save it.

It’s true that right now there aren’t many players on certain servers, but hey —> at least there are players, and every day I see more people coming back, whether out of nostalgia or for their own reasons. The way to keep that going is simply by being present.

Yesterday I was playing on my main server (AME2) and I ran into a level 23 player. I talked to him and asked if he’d be interested in joining my clan. He told me he was trying to remember how to play and started asking me questions. I was genuinely happy to help and answered everything. I also told him that even if the game doesn’t feel like it used to, or if there are things he don’t like, he shouldn’t abandon it... instead he should register on the forum to talk, give feedback, and communicate these concerns. The point is that we started playing together, I helped him explore the map, explained what had changed, and we actually had fun! and that’s exactly what should happen in an MMO.
The most painful part, as you mentioned, is that feeling that there’s no one on any server, so the game fails at its core purpose. But it can still be saved. If we all come together and work on building a better community, it’s possible.

I think the biggest mistake we make as players is leaving the game without saying anything, when there is a forum where we can express ourselves, just like you’re doing now.

Regarding what you said about Steam, I fully support that idea. I would even buy Dino Storm on Steam if it were a paid game.

If the game had been on Steam, it would've been a hit back in the day. But unfortunately, we have devs who fix one thing and break three others, so I don't think it'll ever reach the level of games like Warframe, you know?
Also, there are players who don't want it on Steam and I honestly don't get why

Honestly, I don’t understand why. As far as I know, putting a game on Steam isn’t expensive, and it wouldn’t require any major changes. I’ve noticed that people who oppose something positive often don’t really want the game to grow... maybe because they’re comfortable with how things are, and change scares them.
Releasing the game on Steam at a low price would help a lot. It would provide passive income, and as you said, it would also give the game much more visibility and recognition.

But yes, as you said, there are good things they’ve added and others they’ve removed that I don’t agree with at all…
I hope that in 2026 they take this into account and listen to those of us who truly love Dino Storm.

It's because of Steam's automatic download updates, but that's beside the point. DS updates with its own launcher, so at the end of the day, Steam is just a springboard for new players, which is supposedly what the game needs.

And DS has the advantage of being a unique game in its genre. You won't find any similar MMOs anywhere else (Ark and Dino Tamers don't count; although they may have some things in common, they're not even close to being similar in terms of genre DS).

However, Dino Storm no longer needs to be on Steam Greenlight, as this service no longer exists. To launch a game, you only need about $100 and a few other minor/optional things.

I'm not sure how many of those minimum requirements developers have, so that will be up to them.

I would like a developer to respond to this issue if they are still considering it or not.

wouldnt the game simply being on steam be good enough publicity? with a bit of luck we could even get a random hit tweet like "remember this game from 2013?" lmao
