I don't even know what to say to make this eloquent or anything, but it needs said. And I'm sorry, but this will be long as the problem needs to be described in every single micro detail in order to show the full scope of the problem. Please take the time to read and offer additions and suggestions, I would love to hear more perspectives regarding how other players feel about this update. It's frustrating me and my whole clan, and I'd like to hear from other circles.
You nerfed the drop rates, and you nerfed them too dang much! When you introduced the Item Drop Boost Gel, you also decreased the drop rates so people would buy them more and spend money. Okay, cool I guess. I am not mad at money being a want, I am mad about the execution still persecuting even the money-spending players. I've been talking with everyone in my clan, and the ones who are using 30 day violent damage boosters and the 30 day item drop gel are still struggling.
For one, this "great change" with changing what and how many items mobs drop for the lower item bracket has effectively ruined the drop rate of all 50 items, and this has applied to lower level clanmates as well. (Example: there are 2 different item pools level 45 items when you kill a level 50 mob.)
What this has done was make the item drop rates split further between level 50 and 45 items (and so forth as the levels decrease, this is not a problem exclusive to high levels!) and this results in all of the members of my clan, and some friends from other clans, hunting 4 or more entire packs of mobs and not getting a single uncommon item, sometimes not even a rare.
In the level 55 zone, all it drops are common items and sometimes rares, and when it does drop an uncommon item, it never drops the item you need. Somebody had made a guide (or a rough draft of one) of the new items pool for 55 mobs. I read it and for example, the t-rex's items, and I saw: * 4 uncommon items * 3 rare items * and 2 common items. All I get in the 55 zone is commons and sometimes rares, and when I need a specific item, it is impossible to specialize, with the mixed drops making it so difficult.
In zones 50-54, I have experienced that the items hardly drop, and that only common items drop a semi-consistent rate per pack. I have killed 5 packs and only gotten one item from them, and that was the brontops packs in level 54, which have NINE (9) brontops per pack. That is 45 brontops and none dropped the uncommon item.
Gem rates are somewhat okay, but those seem lower a little too. Clanmates and I have been hunting all day and haven't made too many gems. I'm getting one gem every 2, 3, to even 5 or more packs, depending. In about 5 hours of hunting, I have only made 50 gems or less, which is less typical than it used to be. Personally I'm fine with the gem drop rates for the most part, while clanmates are reporting that they have been getting significantly less amounts of gems, even the ones hunting in Otis and other smilodon farms.
And why are white items (trade goods that you sell for dino dollars) also horrible? I've noticed that 1-2 in 6 or more mobs have been dropping them per pack, which is noticeably worse than prior to the drop rate update. Usually it would be around a 50% or higher drop rate for white items, like as if they had their own coin flip whether to drop or not, which was great. Until this update, of course.
I liked the idea, I really did, but the execution is awful. For years, me and everyone I've ever met on this game have agreed on one thing and said it since I was playing in 2017 and 2018: "The rare items are more common than the uncommon items."
Why is that? Why is an item that is supposed to be rare more common than something with a supposedly higher drop rate?
One of the lower level members of our clan, a level 39, was hunting to upgrade his lower level items in the level 44 zone. The item he needed would not drop, he was hunting for hours and only got 15 or less of them per few hours. We even helped him hunt for a few hours, and confirmed he was using the items drop rate gel, and he still was struggling to get the item he needed. It used to be that if you hunt in a higher zone than your level bracket, that it would drop more of your items you needed. But he wasn't even getting that many of x3 bonus stack or higher, despite him being in a zone that was over 3 levels above his ranger level.
Another member of my clan, another 39, has been struggling with low items drop rate as well, he only got 3 of the item he needed in several hours hunting in level 43 for it. I wish these numbers were exaggerated, but I literally laid witness to the fact that they hardly got the items they needed. I was there helping them for several of these hours.
Bandits. Oh my good LORD, the BANDITS. Everyone, and I mean everyone, not even just my clan, EVERYONE has been complaining about the bandits seeing you through walls. Even normal alphas can see me through walls in the level 55 zone, due to long-term glitches of unfinished wall boundaries all throughout the zone. I understand that you want to make things more challenging for players. I understand entirely. However, players raging over dying repeatedly to bandits that can see them through walls, and for like 100 feet or more will chase you is not the desired result for anyone. Especially not you.
Players have begun to give up on the game, and some have begun to rethink spending money on the game, between PayPal issues, account loss over the password reset thing that you guys have not been actually solving for some players, and this, this is the cherry on top of the "I'm going to spend my time playing other games, this is not worth my time or money" cake. Players are playing less, wanting to spend less money, and do not feel seen or heard over these changes. And as a relatively older player and member of the community, I'm worried about people trying to level up in this game. I'm worried. My friends are struggling, I'm struggling, and people I don't know as well are also struggling. And I can't babysit 5 different low levels and 15 or more different high levels who are all struggling and need help leveling up because of this drop rate and the changed bandit AI/behaviors. And mind you, these players buy violent damage boosters, gels, and other items with purchased gold. They're still struggling even when they have the keys to success that they bought with their hard-earned money. I wish I had better feedback that was slightly more constructive, but I'm at my wit's end here with this. The game is not what it used to be. It's not fun anymore.
