💡 Suggestion: Make Duplicate Dinos & Guns Useful Instead of Just “Destroy”
Current Destroy Option

Introduction
After spending hours grinding stones, farming bosses, and opening packs, players often end up with duplicate dinosaurs or guns. Currently, the only option available is “Destroy”, which removes the item completely with no meaningful return.

For items that required significant time, effort, and sometimes luck to obtain, destroying them feels unrewarding and wasteful.

This thread proposes a system that turns duplicates into useful resources while keeping the game balanced.

🦖 The Core Idea
Instead of only having the Destroy option, allow players to convert duplicate dinos or guns into valuable resources.

Possible implementations:

1️⃣ Exchange for In-Game Currency
Players could exchange unwanted dinos or guns for:

  • 💰 Dino dollars
  • 💎 Stones
  • 🔧 Upgrade materials
  • 📦 Special crafting parts
Example concept:

Item LevelExchange Reward
Low levelSmall dollar /gold reward
Mid levelGold/dollars + small stones
High levelStones or rare crafting parts
This keeps grinding rewarding instead of frustrating.

2️⃣ Dino/Gun Recycling System
A Recycle Machine could be added in town.

When destroying an item, players receive:

  • Dino fragments
  • Crafting tokens
  • Upgrade dust
These could later be used to:

  • Upgrade existing dinos
  • Craft specific dinos
  • Improve weapons
This gives players long-term progression instead of pure RNG.

3️⃣ Collector Shop
Another idea is adding a Collector NPC or Shop.

Players could trade duplicate dinos/guns for:

  • Exclusive cosmetics
  • Rare upgrade boosts
  • Special ammo
  • Limited-time items
This would give collectors a reason to keep farming dinos even after getting the ones they want.

🎮 Why This Would Improve the Game
✔ Rewards Player Effort
Players spend hours grinding stones and farming packs.
Getting nothing in return for duplicates feels discouraging.

✔ Encourages More Farming
If duplicates had value, players would keep grinding dinos and packs longer.

✔ Helps Progression
Players could slowly convert duplicates into meaningful upgrades.

✔ Reduces Frustration
Destroying rare dinos currently feels like throwing away progress.

⚖ Possible Concerns (Cons)
❗ Economy Balance
If exchange rewards are too high, it could inflate the in-game economy.

Solution:
Rewards should scale carefully with item rarity.

❗ Farming Exploits
Players might intentionally farm low-level dinos just for currency.

Solution:
Implement daily limits or diminishing returns.

❗ Inventory Hoarding
Players might hoard duplicates for trading.

Solution:
Add exchange cooldowns or weekly trade limits.

🔧 Example Balanced System
ActionReward
Destroy Common DinoSmall gold/dino dollar /stones
Destroy Rare DinoGold + fragments
Destroy Epic DinoStones or tokens
This keeps the system useful but balanced.

🌟 Final Thoughts
The Destroy button currently feels like lost progress after hours of farming.

Turning duplicates into a recycling or exchange system would:

  • Reward effort
  • Improve player satisfaction
  • Encourage long-term gameplay
  • Reduce frustration from RNG
Even a small reward system would make a big difference for the community.

💬 Community Feedback
What do you think?

Would you prefer:

  • 💰 Currency exchange
  • 🔧 Recycling system
  • 🏪 Collector shop
  • Or a combination of all three?
Let's discuss ways to make duplicate dinos and guns meaningful instead of disposable. Share your thoughts on it too would love to hear

I think collector would be the best idea though: trading unused dinos for boosters/upgrade mats/exclusive skins is interesting and doesn't affect the balance. Not sure what you mean by "special ammo" but that's probably just the AI making stuff up
