If you upgrade one of the level 1 baby dinos do you lose it? How do they work?

they just become lvl 2. you can get lvl 1 dino only by buying it, there is nothing special about them. these are more for collection or flexing rather than real usage in hunting or war ;d

the only their use in war which i see is that they are small and hard to hit, but when hitted die like flies xd
