I think that a better solution to give more dynamism, fun and prominence to the gameplay and dinosaurs is to add passive skills.

But what is a passive skill?

as some may already know... a passive skill is an "automatic" ability of a character, in this case our dinosaurs. These skills work in certain scenarios with certain rules.


Passive skillscan give each dinosaur and weapon that unique gameplay (depending on a dinosaur's characteristics):

Coelophysis: when receiving a critical attack your dinosaur increases its speed by 5% for 5s.

Centrosaurus: When you use any of your skills, you have a 50% chance to receive a reflection for 5s.

Carnoturus: Your carnotaur steals life for each attack.

Brachiosaurus: your brachi recovers more life when not attacked.

Pachy: When your dino marks a specific target from a distance for 10s, it can use its abilities at a greater distance dealing an extra percentage of damage.

Parasaurolophus: Parasaurolophus can run faster in Green Volcano and Mokon Woods.

Ankylosaurus: Armor can be an option. But it could also be: Ankylosaurus has a 50% chance to do triple damage with the "Tail smash attack" skill.

Tyranosaurus: when the tyrannosaurus kills another tyrannosaurus, the cooldown of his skills is a little faster.






Weapons:

Hammer
: The "rocket launcher" skill can do the same standard damage within a specific area.

Burning Colt: The weapon shot has a 50% chance to apply a low or high burn for 3s.

Peacemaker: for every 20s peacemaker can use his skills at a much greater distance.

Gatling: Each ability with additional power increases the effects that an enemy player received by 4-5 seconds. For example: when I see a player who has 4s stun, I can go with my gatling and increase that effect to 9s (as long as I use my ability with extra power).

Yager Rifle: When the weapon fires 7 consecutive times without missing, the next shot or skill is a guaranteed critical.

Showstopper: The shotgun takes 5% extra damage when our ranger is in close combat.

And that would be it, as you can see I tried to come up with abilities that are not related to a specific effect because then it tends to be weak or useless against a tech module or implant. Also the passive skills are somewhat more "independent".

and what do you think?? Do you have other ideas for passive skills? :p

I honestly had no other idea. I put that passive in reference to the habitat that the parasaurolphus lived in their time.

I like the idea, PvP would be more interesting with your suggested idea.

Someone also proposed something kind of similar to that, that could make the PvP interesting, but it got lost in other thread.



i just had an idea.
what if using rex battle cry with ep when you have a claw or strength implant equiped increased the duration of bleed by 3-5 seconds.
or if you use carno's carnage attack with ep when you have recovery implant on increased the duration of leech by 3-5 seconds.
what if having freeze tech on your gun could reduce the cooldown of your GUN abilities by 2-3 seconds.
what if having heat regulator imp on your dino could reduce the cooldown of your DINO abilities by 2-3 seconds.
of course it sounds broken to get +3 seconds on ability by having just a lvl 1 imp/tech so what if you had +1 sec for every 1000 relevant stats points.

I only posted my opinion because guns are already op, so we should give dinosaurs a HUGE advantage against weapons to encourage players to embrace melee fights so here it is:

what if coel would have smthing like : Small but dangerous=after dropping under 20%, increases crit chance and crit damage of dino hits by 50%?

speed buffs on coel are way too good, imagine if you get targeted with gatling skill? your coel would become the flash in 2 sec xd

para should have smthing like: Die or dance=dropping under 30% hp, para dodges better for 20%? but only works for 2nd skill

centro feels weak considering those 3 big horns so it needs smthing like: Serrated horns=attacking a target with basic dino attacks, adds a bleed effect that lasts for 10 sec, and it stacks max 5 times and the effect duration gets refreshed everytime you attack, bleed dmg should be like 200% of basic dino strenght or like % dmg

brachy passive..this one is hard but i think it should receive less damage from dinosaurs because that thing is thick and heavy

anky ability feels good

rex would be better with: Terrifying=deals more damage towards targets affected by ''battle cry and extra power''

pachy should have : Hard Head=each dino hit has a 5% chance to paralyse the target for 4 seconds

carno already has lifesteal on his 2nd skill so:
Terror of the Late Cretacious: Attacks have a 20% chance to apply ''easy target'' on targets

if weapon passive is a MUST HAVE, then they should also gain ''Damage fall-off'' which simply means the farther the target, the less damage they deal, so it should make aim a good tech once again :)

Great idea, I honestly wouldn't add these abilities to weapons as they fit better with dinosaurs.

Same but there should be this thing called weapon dmg fall-off to discourage players to build around range anymore
An example to my idea is in this game called Dauntless and there are a type of weapons called "Repeaters" and they do less range the longer the distance

new dinos, guns, techs and imps also change the meta, just like gatling did, just like anky did, just like dino defense and shield implant.....

I invite you to try rpg games, with characters etc, there you will understand how passives work and why it could give more variety to the game

I invite you to try rpg games, with characters etc, there you will understand how passives work and why it could give more variety to the game
it would create even more possibilities, who knows...maybe people would build full agility on para o.o

POV you havent played any other games other than dino storm and you think this is catastrophic.
the only catastrophic about this is the lack of consideration from the developers because a lot more topics like this one are floating inside a void. the sooner we all accept nothing is gonna change in this game the better it will be. 55lvl max was how many years ago? when was the last dinosaur released? any new gameplay mechanic? balance updates? yeah......

well we got new pvp ways, still some unchanged stuff, a bit more complicated stuff would probably keep players active...there is no fun in playing something easy....atleast for me xd
