When will more dinosaurs be added?

Hello everyone,

Since I was a kid I’ve been playing Dino Storm, and more than ten years have passed already. In all that time, only one single new dinosaur has been added.

I would really like to understand why it takes so long to release new content. From my perspective, more content would naturally attract more players, keep the community engaged, and ultimately benefit the developers as well.

People joined this game for one main reason: dinosaurs. But why do many leave? Because there are only 8 dinosaurs in total. Isn’t that a problem? Honestly, if you opened something like a Patreon or a community donation page, I would gladly contribute as much as I could—because this game truly deserves more than what people currently see.

It’s sad, because if things continue this way—with repetitive events, unnecessary updates, and very stagnant activity—the game will eventually die. And it doesn’t deserve that. There are so many possibilities to explore: new weapons (for example an AK-47), skins for weapons, new dinosaurs like a Therizinosaurus with unique cutting abilities, a bounty hunter system, more dynamic missions, and even bringing back the old labyrinth map.

Please don’t take this message as offensive, because it comes from love for the game. Dino Storm is incredible, unique, and special—there’s no other game like it. That’s exactly why it hurts to see it slowly fading instead of growing into its full potential.

I truly hope this is read not only by the community, but maybe even by someone on the dev team, or higher up, who can really take this into account. Dino Storm deserves much more, and I believe with the right updates it could thrive again.

Its kinda more problematic to think of new skills than to just add dinosaur(cause lets face it they would need add more skills if they added new dinosaur).

I would like to see more dinosaurs in DS style tho tbh.

Instead of adding new skills, they can adjust the current skill stats into balancing for every similar looking dinosaur for example: balancing coel and utahraptor skill "stats"

believe me, if you ask me, I have millions of abilities in mind. For example, the Therizinosaurus could have a bleeding ability that makes you lose health slowly while moving, and also removes armor with each hit you take from it. The Spino could have an ability where it crouches and waits 2 or 3 seconds before sprinting toward its target and biting it — the longer the distance covered, the more damage it deals. It could also use tail swings that slow down the enemy

Honestly, I wouldn’t even care if they had to rebuild the whole game from scratch or remove major features just to add more content. Hell, they could even ask for money and I’d throw all my cash at them if that’s what it takes. The idea of them announcing new dinosaurs together one day would be enough for me to die in peace.

Exactly, and that’s something this game could totally exploit with all the potential content it has. Like, imagine if they added a Giganoto or an Acrocanthosaurus (my favorite dino) and made it a requirement to hold some kind of council position, for example, in order to unlock it. People would literally fight for it, and that would create insane activity — tons of old players would come back, more wars would break out, and the game would basically revive exponentially

Well creating Dino's only brings short term growth for game cuz players will always leave if the general gameplay system is bad and not rewarding enough.

That would save them a lot of time when developing a new dinosaur; we could easily have one or two new dinosaurs each year. All they would have to worry about is programming it, but the developers seem afraid of success.

But the investment would be worth it. After all, you would be launching a new dinosaur that would get many people hooked for days, increasing the likelihood of in-game purchases.

I don’t really think it’s about money, they probably make enough anyway. I personally spent a lot on the game (I was super kiter back in the old PvP). They could easily get someone to do it, or like I said before, just open a donation page to add new dinos. I even talked to some people from this game who would make the models for FREE just because they like it.

I think it’s a problem that goes beyond that. There’s probably some addon or model that’s like the core of the game, so changing it would take a lot of time. Just my guess lol. But like I said before, I wouldn’t mind if they deleted the game and started from scratch again. They have all my support as long as it helps the game not stay stuck.

You're right, organizing a donation campaign would be a better idea if SS doesn't have enough money to fund a new dinosaur. I would join the initiative, and I hope the developers consider it.

Also, I’d like to add that I’m the Latin American content creator with the largest audience in DS. If the developers asked me to promote a possible donation campaign, I’d gladly do it for free (or in exchange for the new dinosaur for my account, haha), and of course, I’d make sure a lot of people find out about it.

Running a donation campaign is relatively easy for this game. I remember all the servers came together just to ask for the old maps. Even though we didn’t fully get it, we were heard, which is a positive point. What I’m getting at is that maybe adding dinosaurs isn’t that hard after all, especially knowing that in a hypothetical case where they set a price to add dinos, it would be reached very easily.


Still, I would prefer that if it ever happens, they make votes for the dinosaurs, e.g., A: ACROCANTHOSAURUS B: THERIZINOSAURUS C: SPINOSAURUS. I also think more priority (like double voting power) should be given to those who donated to the project or promotion.
