I believe there be perhaps a symbol to indicate that a friend or a clan mate is active like a little green dot on his profile picture in the clan or friends window. Those not in clan or friends list should not be able to be known as online to strangers.

Hello

Open the clan window, and click on a member. If you see an option called "Watch Clanmate", this means that member is online but if you dont see Watch clanmate option it means that member is offline.

Since you're forwarding suggestions I'd like to say that fixing the problem of just finding the person in clan roster or friend list has been requested a few times already. A simple search option in the list or even some kind of order to it like player level or alphabetical would help a lot. There were times I gave up trying to find someone in clan roster because lag kept resetting it to the first page in a clan with well over 100 members. Since we're paying for extra slots I think we should be able to make better use of them.
