Hello rangers, this message is directed straight to the creators of the game.

I have compiled a list of the things we discussed in the latest post regarding the lack of attention being given to Dino Storm’s loyal players, along with some additional ideas 0_1539685751116_jester.gif

After reading the entire discussion in the previous thread and seeing how many people share the same concerns, I think it’s important to open a separate topic to collect and summarize everything the community has been asking for.

A lot of us feel that Dino Storm has slowly lost systems and features that once made the game more alive, engaging, and rewarding. Many of the suggestions below are not new ideas, but things that already existed in the past and were removed over time.

Because of that, restoring some of these systems should not be extremely costly or complex, and could be a good starting point to rebuild player interest and activity.

Here is a summarized list of what players have been asking for:

1. Bring back the old evolution system1767979671852.png

This is by far one of the most requested changes.

The old evolutions gave players:
  • Long-term goals
  • A real sense of progression
  • Motivation to keep playing and improving their dinosaurs

Right now, progression feels limited and much less rewarding. Restoring the old evolution system (or something very close to it) would immediately improve player engagement.

2. Restore older maps or map versions1767979691152.png

Many players miss the older map layouts and designs.

Those maps felt:
  • More immersive
  • More memorable
  • More “Dino Storm” than the current versions

Re-introducing classic maps (even partially or as rotating zones) would bring back nostalgia and variety without needing to design everything from scratch.

3. Show online player count on each server1767979723504.png

This is something I just thought about while playing... Maybe a list of players online would encourage us to be online doing our stuff knowing there are more people around.
  • Display the number of players currently online per server
  • Visible somewhere in the UI (login screen, server selection, or HUD)

This would:
  • Make the game feel more alive
  • Help players choose active servers
  • Increase confidence that the game is still populated

Seeing activity matters a lot for an MMO.

4. Focus on restoring removed systems before adding new ones 0_1539685602167_bug.gif

Many players feel that instead of adding new mechanics, the game should first:
  • Restore systems that already worked well in the past
  • Fix what was removed and never properly replaced

This would be a low-risk, high-impact approach and a clear sign that community feedback is being taken seriously.

5. General feeling: the game needs its “soul” back 0_1539693388183_faint.gif

What most players are really asking for is not just balance changes, but:
  • A sense of progression
  • A reason to log in daily
  • The feeling that effort matters

Restoring older systems is one of the fastest ways to achieve this.

6. Implement a day and night cycle 0_1539692628690_banana.gif

A feature that many MMOs already have and that would greatly improve immersion.
A day and night cycle would:
  • Make the world feel more alive and dynamic
  • Add visual variety to maps
  • Improve atmosphere and immersion

This doesn’t need to be overly complex at first. Even a basic cycle would already be a big improvement and help Dino Storm feel less static and more like a living world<<<<<<

Final thoughts 0_1539692491828_angel.gif

I’ve been talking about this with players from AME_2, and we all agree on the same points. We’re hoping for responses, along with many players from other servers.

If the team wants to start improving the situation, bringing back old systems is the most logical first step.
They already existed, players loved them, and they gave the game depth.

Starting there would show goodwill, respect for the community, and a real intention to revive Dino Storm instead of letting it slowly fade.

Many of us genuinely want this game to succeed again,
because of that, if anyone wants to add more feedback, please do!
Kind regards,
P I X I E

7. Improve rewards for returning players

One issue that has been mentioned is the lack of meaningful rewards for players who come back after being inactive for some time.

Currently, returning players receive very little (for example, a small amount of fame), which doesn’t feel motivating or rewarding enough to encourage them to stay.

Better comeback rewards would:
  • Encourage old players to return
  • Help them catch up more easily
  • Increase player retention across all servers

8. Better starter and first-time purchase rewards

For first-time pack purchases, offering double rewards or bonuses would be a strong incentive.

This is something that exists in almost every popular online game and helps:
  • New players feel rewarded
  • Increase early engagement
  • Encourage first purchases

9. More community-driven events

At the moment, the game feels very empty and static.

The community would benefit greatly from:
  • Regular community events (at least 3 as a starting point)
  • Events that feel meaningful, not just repetitive tasks
  • More events overall across the game

Community events give players a reason to log in and play together.

10. Global community goals with shared rewards

Introduce global objectives that the entire community can work towards.

For example:
  • A shared target that players must reach together
  • Everyone can contribute, including max-level players through harder missions
  • Once completed, the whole community receives rewards

This would:
  • Unite players across levels
  • Give high-level players a purpose
  • Create a sense of cooperation and progression

11. Give players a real reason to play

Right now, many players feel there is no clear motivation to keep playing<<<

The game needs
  • Clear objectives
  • Rewards that feel meaningful
  • Systems that help all players, not just a few

A strong reason to play benefits the entire player base :)

12. Improve overall game activity and feeling of life

Many players feel that the game world is too empty.

This can be improved by:
  • Adding more events
  • Encouraging social and community interaction
  • Making the world feel active and alive

13. Improve visibility and promotion of the game

Finally, the game also needs better promotion.
  • More visibility
  • Better advertising
  • Let people know Dino Storm still exists

Without new players, even good systems won’t be enough!

14. Improve the clan system (alliances and clan wars)

Since suggestions are being discussed, many players would like to see improvements to the clan system.

Some ideas include:
  • The ability to create allied clans
  • Clan wars or competitive clan-based activities

A stronger clan system would:
  • Encourage social interaction
  • Give groups a reason to stay active
  • Strengthen the community aspect of the game

15. Prepare content for upcoming level caps

With higher levels approaching (such as level 65), players are concerned about the lack of preparation.

Before increasing the level cap, it would be important to:
  • Add meaningful endgame content
  • Ensure there are goals and activities for high-level players

Without proper content, higher levels will only make the lack of progression more noticeable.

FOR THE FEEDBACK!
Your ideas are awesome, you have my full support! The only thing missing was some new content (new dinosaurs). The community has already shared plenty of ideas and models for dinosaurs that would fit the game perfectly

I wanted to expand some points and not only give the ideas, but ways to implement them. This comment will surely be edited later so please keep that in mind.

Firstly I want to say that the community is willing to do the heavy lifting, but the devs simply have not given us a reason to.

Also, this is my perspective only as an old, returning player from 2012 and as a player of other MMO's and online games in general, so not only will I be mistaken about game develoment things but I will additionally miss an old, recurrent player's thoughts and feelings about the current state of the game.
Therfore I need people who have played the game for way longer than me to give your opinions of not only this comment, but the situation in general!

This is a game dear to my heart and surely to many others'!

Let's make an effort to save it!

Consequently: why the game has its issues and how to fix them.

I want to preface that I do not expect these things to be added just the way I want to or be added overnight. Thus, this comment will be divided into short-term fixes, and long-term fixes. Most of the solutions I propose are basically the same thing other MMO's have done that this one, for some reason, has not. We do not have to reinvent the wheel here.

Short-term. All of these things can be implemented (I think) really easily with a 1 hour mantenience. They are mostly just numbers tweaks.

1. Progression: the issue with lower level returning and new players and max level, veteran players.

Why does progression feel so slow, tedious, monotonous and boring? Many reasons like: the same missions over and over, no sense of visual progression and missions having fixed time-cosuming propeties, but for simplicity's sake I will point out, in my opinion THE biggest offender.

You MUST get max level.

In my almost 3 thousand hours playing Warframe I have not reached, nor am I close to, the max level. Why? Because I do not need to. For people not familiar with the game: neither the warframes (dino equivalents) or weapons are level capped to your mastery rank (ranger level equivalent). You can be mastery rank 15 (30 is max) and have a fully upgraded, endgame ready equipment easily. Meaning, you don't have to do the grueling task of getting every piece of equipment and leveling it to rank up to max. Why, then, am I obligated to rank up to the max level in Dino Storm to even begin to consider participating in the widely-regarded most-fun aspect of the game, the endgame clan wars? It makes no sense. I must spend countless hours with no motivation (because evolutions were, if we're being honest, effectively removed) other than reaching the light at the end of the tunnel doing something I do not enjoy in the slightlest.

If you remember, back in the day, level 55 wasn't actually the max level. So let's take the perspective of a returning player from that time (such as myself) that felt invincible and logged back into the game that they once held so dearly. You are not max level anymore, oh well, that's to be expected I guess. Also your dino looks like a baby now. Yeah you have to level 30 more levels to get it back like it used to be. No you can't participate in your favourite activities (old clan wars videos have 10k+ views btw). Here's 100 fame for your 8 year absence! No, the game has not changed one bit! Have fun!

Obviously, I am not saying that it MUST be like in Warframe (I have an endless amounts of complains about that game, but alas, this is not a Warframe forum) and that you should be able to do endgame content being low-level, I actually thing that is a bad thing because not only it would be a slap in the face to people that have done it (this ties to another big problem I will get into later) but it would give little to no motivation to people might want to do it. What I am saying however, is that I should not be forced to get to the MAX level. Hence; my proposed solution:

You should be able to upgrade your equipment 5 more levels than your ranger rank every 5 ranger ranks.

Example: I am ranger rank 20 and my dinos and weapons can be upgraded to level 25, and only when I reach ranger rank 25 I can upgrade them up to 30, etc.
This would make it so with ranger rank 50, I can have level 55 equipment.

Now the elephant in the room. "But I AM level 55, did I do it for no reason?"

For now, the best solutions I can possibly think of would be a long-term plan, so I will say that from level 50 to 55 they should get more permanent inventory space, access to certain items and other QoL features I can't think of right now.

2. Top-up bonuses.

This is kind of a no brainer. More reasons for the consumer to spend = more money for the company.
With a double, first-time-only bonus even the most casual players are very likely to buy at least the smallest pack.
The effectiveness is proven, every popular online game now (mostly just gachas) have some kind of one-time reward for your first top-up for each pack. Doesn't have to be double, maybe a discount.

3. Catch-up and log in rewards.

Relates to the first two points. Playing catch up is impossible. I logged in for the first time in years and I get a handfull of fame? Really? Not triple xp, not triple drop rates, not 100k dino dollars or something? If I didn't love this game I would have quit right there and then. This is something very basic of MMO's. The more time I spent away from the game, the more I should get when I get back. Nothing too crazy if I was a couple weeks away, but if I didn't play in years, I should get something nice.

Same with log in rewards. Today I got like a rocket, I think. Nice waste of 1 inventory space. I don't expect 1k coins but c'mon. Surely there's something better that what's currently in the game, right?

Long-term. These are things that would need time and resources to implement, but should get regular updates of the devs working on them. Right now I have no clue of what is coming out this year (probably the same as all the others xd). I only have literal word-of-mouth information about what some empty promise a game master said 3 months ago or something of the like.

1. Events.

There is nothing to do in the game right now. In the current gaming landscape, there's at least 1 event running at all times. I don't think this is something good or to be expected of online games but there should be events regurarly.
For now, the events that I have in mind are as follows:

-Massive "Dino Storm revival event". This game was insanely popular back in the day (the 10 million registrations mark is still a thing in the front page, at least) and with some publicity people would realize that the game is still (barely) alive and kicking after all these years and there is an ongoing event to catch up and get back on track (imagine the money that would pour in with the top up bonuses!).

- Community driven events. Events with a small story that are basically "slay 100 million bandits cumulitavely with across the servers". Something dumb like that would bring us even closer as a comunity and give everyone something to do. This would also be an opportunity to add high level content. Imagine a level 70 dino spawning or something that max level players could group together to slay.

- Clan centred events. Official clan wars; "slay 1 thousand bandits as a clan"; "the clan with most amount of X within the server wins"; etc etc...

- Community creation events. Video with most likes wins; fanart with most likes wins; etc etc..

2. Combat rework.

What is an MMO without a complex pvp? Nothing. Theorycrafting is fun, free content for Youtubers and Streamers and something to do outside the game.
What I have in mind is to give dinos and weapons a more specific role. 4 abilities are way to little. Implants are just stats. The game is a stat check with almost no skill involved (which is why it is nigh-mandatory to be max level to be competitive).
If, for any reason, the devs are keen on only giving us 4 abilities, at least they should have additional effects both with and without max potency bar. Imagine if the Centrosaurus could also taunt; if the Ankylosaurus' stun was AoE; if the Coelophysis was grappled to the foe's dino!! Give the players options.
This is also groundwork for new dinos, new weapons, new implants and new weapon tech (and powercreep I guess, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there).
I don't believe the game should be have the most complex combat of all time, but anything would be better than what we have right now. This I know.

3. The Veteran problem.

It would be incredibly disrespectful to players that reached level 55 (and future max levels) if magically lower level rangers got as powerful as them without nearly the same amount of time and dedication.
So, how would I fix it?
Levels 50 to 55 should have aspects and items exclusive to them. Good chance to add the dino armor that has been teased since the beggining of the game!
With this, max level players have a wider access not only to cosmetic, but also pvp related items that would give them and their clan an edge in combat, but not overpower lower levels completely.

This is all I can think of right now. I want to repeat that I know this community is willing to do the heavylifting, we just need something to work with. Dev-community relationship is incredibly low, there is no trust between us.
This game's aesthetic is something that no other game has ever replicated, and the dinosaur niche is a niche so big it's not even considered a niche. There is no defacto dinosaur game out there. Let this be it.

I humbly request everyone's opinion on this matter, specially the max level veterans.

I love this game, I really do.

Thanks for reading.
